1) How do I schedule an animal for processing?
Call us at 260-693-0777 to reserve a processing date.
2) How far in advance should I book?
Dates often fill up weeks to months ahead, especially during peak seasons. We recommend calling 3-6 months in advance.
3) What animals do you process?
We process beef, hogs, lambs, goats and deer.
4) Do I need to bring my animal in or can you arrange transport?
Customers are responsible for delivery unless otherwise arranged.
5) How much meat will I take home?
Take-home weight depends on the animal size, cut choices, and trimming preferences. On average, customers take home about 55–60% of the hanging weight for beef and 45%-55% of the hang weight for hogs.
6) What is hanging weight vs. take-home weight?
Hanging weight is the carcass weight after harvest; take-home weight is the packaged meat you receive.
7) Can I choose my cuts?
Yes! We offer custom cut sheets so you can select steaks, roasts, ground, sausage, and more.
8) Do you offer smoking and curing?
Yes, we offer smoked and cured products like bacon, ham, and specialty sausages - all smoked in-house!
9) How long does processing take?
Typically, 10–21 days for beef and 7–14 days for hogs, depending on workload and aging.
10) How is pricing calculated?
Pricing is based on processing fees, cut options, and additional services like smoking or specialty products.
11) How will my meat be packaged?
Meat is vacuum-sealed or wrapped and labeled for freezer storage.
12) How will I know when my order is ready?
We’ll contact you via text message when your order is ready. Appointments are not required for pick-up.
13) Do you offer bulk or freezer beef and pork?
Yes, we offer quarters, halves, and whole animals, as well as variety packs.
14) Do I need to bring my own coolers when I pick up my meat?
No, your order will be packaged and placed in boxes for easy transportation.

18) Can I place special orders?
Absolutely! We’re happy to cut or source specific items when possible.
19) What percent is your ground beef?
Our ground beef typically runs at 85/15.

20) How long will meat last in the freezer?
Properly packaged meat can last 6–12 months or longer.
21) How should I thaw frozen meat?
Thaw in the refrigerator for best quality and safety.

22) What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, checks and cards.
23) Do you require deposits for custom processing?
No, deposits are not required at this time.
24) What are your hours of operation?
We are open Monday-Friday 8a-5p and Saturday 8a-12p.
25) Do you offer gift cards?
Yes, gift cards are available in-store and they can be customized to any dollar amount.

Roger Stahlhut
Co-Owner
Roger and his wife Whitney, reside on their family homestead where they raise beef cattle and harvest a variety of crops. They have two children, Barrett and Adelynn. Roger is a 4th generation farmer and has more than 25 years of experience in the meat processing industry. Roger and Whitney are family oriented and enjoy watching their children embrace the farm lifestyle. After years of unwavering dedication we are thrilled to provide the community with farm fresh products from locally raised animals.
Terry Yarde
Co-Owner
Terry and his wife Andrea, live on a 4th generation cow/calf and grain farm outside of Garrett. They have two children, Kyle (Laura) Yarde and Lindsey (Trace) Koble, and two grandchildren. For many years Terry and his family have enjoyed raising, showing and marketing cattle. It has been a vision of the Yarde family to open a meat shop where consumers can confidently purchase locally raised meats.
